Administrative Director
Gina joined the Department of Surgery in April 2018. Prior to joining Brigham & Women’s Hospital, she worked in various leadership roles at the University of Florida, University of California – San Diego and Imaging Healthcare Specialists. Gina has over 15 years of experience in pre- and post-award management, operations design and implementation, policy drafting, contract review and negotiations, recruitment and performance management, and fiscal reporting and budgeting.
In her free time, she writes a mystery-centered blog, is working on a historical mystery and is trying to teach herself Latin.
Research Manager, Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery
Julie joined the Department of Surgery in August 2011. She received her Bachelor of Science from Boston University and joined BWH as a study coordinator in Thoracic Surgery once she had graduated from college. She worked as a study coordinator for 5 years learning the complexities of clinical research in the oncology setting. She oversaw a wide variety of trials ranging from tissue and data collection to large, multi-site investigational drug and device studies. Julie briefly left the department to work at Partners, but soon returned as she discovered her true passion was working with patients and surgeons. Since her return to the department, she has gone on to receive her Master’s in Clinical Research and is now the research manager for the Divisions of Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery. In her free time, she enjoys reading romance novels, a nice Cabernet Sauv, and taking peloton classes.
Senior Grant Administrator
Catherine joined the Department of Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in November 2020. Prior to joining the team, she had spent the majority of her career at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where she most recently held the title of Senior Research Administrator. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, and playing board games.
Manager, Research Administration & Finances for Urology
Meaghan has over 11 years of sponsored research experience. Prior to her current role, she spent 5 years as a Senior Research Administrator supporting various divisions within the Department of Surgery. Before coming to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, she worked 6 years in Partners Research Management, across the Contracts and Post Award teams. She is experienced in research grants and contracts management (basic science and human subjects research), clinical trials, as well as other unfunded compliance agreements (research services, data use, materials transfer, and confidentiality disclosure).
Senior Clinical Research Manager
John joined the Department of Surgery at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in June 2021. He graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s in Biology in 2010 and subsequently worked at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, studying the mechanosensory properties of the lower urinary tract system before moving to New York City. In NYC he entered the world of clinical research in the cardiac catheterization laboratory at NYU Langone as a clinical research coordinator and then moved into the start-up space as a clinical research manager at TrialSpark (a New York based CRO).
Outside of work John enjoys recreational soccer, cooking for his family, playing guitar, reading and caring for his two dogs Olive and Molly. Molly was adopted from a Colombian rescue organization that John and his wife are actively involved with.
Senior Grants Administrator
Julie joined the Department of Surgery in May 2021. Prior to joining Brigham and Women’s Hospital, she worked in Research Administration at Tufts Medical Center and Laboratory Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a minor in Psychology from UMass Amherst. Outside of work, Julie enjoys travel, skiing, reading and home improvement projects.
Senior Administrator, Research Laboratory Operations and Compliance
Jan has been with the Department of Surgery for over 34 years in varying capacities. Having received a dual major BS in Biology and Environmental Science, she started in the department in 1985 working in a surgical metabolic/nutrition laboratory as an Animal Technician and Research Assistant II. In 1989, she held the position of Senior Research Assistant and Manager of Animal Research in that same laboratory. In 1996, she transitioned to Research Lab Manager and managed additional individual laboratories within the department. Since 2012, she has been the Senior Administrator of Research Laboratory Operations and Compliance. She enjoys working with such a diverse population of technicians, research assistants, research fellows, managers, and professional staff. In her free time, she enjoys going to the beach, hiking, cooking, essential oils, and making aromatherapy products.
Senior Grants Administrator
Jeff joined Brigham and Women’s Hospital in the spring of 2017. Prior to joining the team, Jeff worked in the lighting design industry focusing on the architectural, fashion, dance, and television mediums. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Conservatory of Theatre Design and Technology at SUNY Purchase in Purchase, New York. After graduating he had the opportunity to work in the industries listed above as a freelance designer, which took him and his designs as far as Macau, China. After finding a strong sense of purpose while working as a volunteer at a large New York City hospital, Jeff moved to Boston to pursue an informal pre-med post baccalaureate program through the Harvard Extension School, with an ultimate goal of pursuing a career in clinical medicine. In the interim, Jeff has found a deep passion for managing research in the Department of Surgery.
Grants Coordinator
Rebekkah joined the Department of Surgery as the Grants Coordinator in December 2019. She works directly with residents and fellows to support them during the grant application process. Rebekkah has worked in the healthcare administration field for seven years. She holds a BS in Healthcare Management from Southern New Hampshire University. When Rebekkah is not working, she enjoys traveling internationally and spending time at the beach.
